Owner / Optometrist

Nigel Somerville

Glen Eden Optometrist was opened in 1979 by Mrs Margaret Raby. Nigel Somerville joined the team in 1983 after completing his Bachelor of Science and Diploma of Optometry from the University of Auckland, eventually purchasing the practice from Mrs Raby.

Having been a part of the Glen Eden landscape for so many years, Nigel is passionate about the Glen Eden community and is on the committee for the Glen Eden Business Association. Nigel enjoys playing social football, and is an avid supporter of Manchester City He has two children one who is a police officer and the other a lawyer. Nigel also loves spending time with the many grandchildren he and his partner have.

Optometrist

Nikku Singh

Nikku graduated from the University of Auckland Optometry School in 2016, and has since worked in both independent optometry and private hospital settings.

A Glen Eden local since 2020, Nikku and his partner have grown to love the area and people within the community. In Nikku’s spare time he enjoys getting stuck into some DIY around the house, beer brewing, and spending plenty of time with their dog, Zora

Erin Gribble

Erin is a Glen Eden local who has worked in the Optical Industry for over 25 years.

Erin is passionate about beautiful Eyewear and the happiness and confidence a well-chosen frame can bring. A mother of three, she also has a love for paediatric dispensing and helping little ones on their eyewear journey.

Optical Assistant

Danyelle Gates

Danyelle is our friendly receptionist and her smiling face will be one of the first you see when you are greeted, with her long career in customer service she will always give you an honest approach when finding the perfect frame for you, she will also help in your frame repairs and maintenance. Danyelle may look familiar to some of you; she has a keen eye for fashion just like her mother Michelle who used to be a part of the team here at Glen Eden Optometrist.

In Danyelle’s spare time, she enjoys cooking for her family and spending time with her husband and 2 teenage children travelling around New Zealand.
